Marina Paniara joined Operational Risk Management in October 2011 as a Claims Examiner. In this position, she is responsible for accident and incident investigations, auto and property claims investigation and processing, and the management and annual update of the Commonwealth’s auto and property databases determining George Mason’s annual auto and property policy insurance premium renewal. In addition, Marina serves as the Action Officer for the University’s Accident Review Committee and supports the University’s Safe Driver Program reviewing and processing motor vehicle record checks for George Mason’s drivers. Marina also assists the Risk Management team with special projects.

Marina holds the Associate in Insurance Data Analytics (AIDA) designation and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation awarded by The Institutes. Marina has also completed Property Technical Certificate I, II, and III, Introduction to Claims, Introduction to Risk Management and Ethics in Risk and Insurance courses offered by The Institutes.

Prior to joining George Mason, Marina worked in the public accounting industry as a Staff Accountant specializing in tax-exempt organizations and in the travel and tourism industry as a travel consultant.

Marina earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Mason’s School of Business and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Travel and Tourism from Northern Virginia Community College.

Samantha McClelland

Samantha McClelland is a highly experienced Risk Management Professional with over 15 years of specialized experience in claims management, self-insurance administration, risk assessment, contract liability terms and conditions and program management. Samantha honed her skills and knowledge of Risk Management and Student Services while working at George Mason University for over 22 years. Samantha developed the Driver Safety Program by devising a vehicle use policy, developing the driver awareness training, serving as the training facilitator, and implementing a motor vehicle records check compliance process. As a result of the program, the university received a Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention award in 2022.

Samantha has a total of 25 years’ experience in Higher Education administration and Student Services, providing continuity of operations and project management.  Samantha also has several years of experience in law enforcement and social services administration. Samantha’s diversified professional experience enables her to problem solve and assess critical situations in a timely and efficient manner.

Samantha completed her degree in Risk Management Administration and Criminology at George Mason University. She also received certificates in Risk Management and Risk Control from Virginia Commonwealth University. Currently, pursuing her Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies at George Mason University and her certification designation in Risk Management.

Lindsay Daniels

Lindsay Daniels is rejoining Operational Risk Management (ORM) after four years of expanded professional experience, bringing renewed skills, passion, and vision to the organization. Prior to her return to ORM, she worked as a Senior Quality Systems Specialist and Quality Assurance Specialist. Such roles allowed her to hone her skills and expertise in clinical quality, organizational development, training, project management, and process improvement that now equips her with a well-rounded perspective on risk, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Lindsay previously served within ORM, where she supported key functions related to office support, budget management, and operational integrity. In her current role, Lindsay supports accident and incident investigations, claims review, and enterprise risk processes while partnering across departments to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. She is committed to enhancing program efficiency and leveraging data-driven strategies to support the University’s mission.

Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a minor in Public Administration from Liberty University and a Master of Education degree in Higher Education and Educational Leadership. She is also actively pursuing a Ph.D. in Strategic Leadership, with research interests in organizational culture, leadership development, and institutional resilience.

Danielle Fritz

Danielle Fritz began her career at George Mason University in September 2011. Her tenure in Operational Risk Management provided her the knowledge and expertise that led to her promotion to Risk Control Manager. In this role, she oversees the Incident Accident and Programs, Events, and Camps (PEC) programs, serves as the international Travel Liaison for the University Travel Advisory Committee (UTAC), and supports the administration of the Commonwealth’s Risk Management Plan and other specialty insurance programs. Her responsibilities also include managing certificates of insurance, technical oversight of risk-related databases and trainings, and analysis of claims and insurance data.

Danielle holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron, a Master of Science in Management from Troy State University, and earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Certification in 2023.
